Two suspects arrested for stealing MTN vehicle

The Ashanti Regional Police Command in collaboration with the Tamale Regional Police Command have arrested two suspects for stealing MTN branded Toyota Hilux pick-up.
The vehicle with registration number GN8523-14, was parked on the street in front of a house at TUC, Kumasi by Sales Controller of the Sefwi Bekwai branch of MTN/Ghana.
The Anti-Theft tracking device installed in the vehicle revealed the location of the vehicle.
The suspects include Antwi Duku, a 30-year old trader and Abdullai Shaibu Gafaro, 26 also a trader residents at Behenase in the Ashanti Region and Nyankpanduri in the Northern Region respectively.
According to the driver,  on the 9th of April, 2016 around  7:pm he arrived in Kumasi from Sefwi Bekwai with the said vehicle and parked it in front of his house but woke up the following morning at about 6:00am and detected that the vehicle was nowhere to be found, hence lodged a complaint with the police.
Addressing Journalists on Wednesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Peter Baba explained that upon receipt of the report, an SOS message was sent out to all stations and Police Check Points for the arrest of the occupants of the vehicle.

‘Meanwhile there was an Anti-Theft tracking device installed in the vehicle and that revealed that the vehicle was in the Northern part of the country. The Northern Regional Police Command was immediately contacted and that led to the arrest of the suspects on board the vehicle,’ he narrated.

The two suspects were then brought to the Regional Police Command for further investigations.
Meanwhile the Abuakwa police have also identified Antwi Duku in another car snatching case which is under investigation.

 The suspects also confessed in their cautioned statement that they managed to remove the ignition housing of the vehicle and thereafter joined the wired to move it.
They again confessed that the number plates were removed so they could conceal the vehicle for easy detection.
They are currently in custody assisting in investigation and will be put before court soon.
