The Ashanti Regional office of the Ghana Red Cross Society is set to train 100 Journalists in the region on first aid.
The
training scheduled for May 7, 2016 is aimed at equipping Journalists
with skills on how to save lives in their quest to cover campaigns ahead
of November elections.
In an interview with Ultimate news,
the Ashanti Regional Manager of the Society, Kwame Asante, explained
that the training has been scheduled to coincide with the World Red
Cross Day celebrations.
He
encouraged Journalists to cease the opportunity offered them to make
time out of their busy schedule to learn basic first aid maneuvers at
the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
‘We want
to train media men in first aid, so that as they go about their duties
helping this year’s election campaigns in case of any accident or
emergencies they will have the requisite knowledge to attend to such
situations. We are encouraging all media persons to participate fully so
that if nothing at all, they can protect themselves,’ he said.
