Aggrieved COCOBOAD Staff Call for Dr. Opuni’s Dismissal



Aggrieved staff of COCOBOD are demanding the immediate removal of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company Dr Stephen K. Opuni from office.
They allege that the administration of the former NACOB boss is fraught with corrupt practices and have petitioned the president through the Employment and Labour Relations Ministry for his removal indicating that his continues stay in office is inimical to the growth of COCOBOD.
The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) clad in red garments and wielding placards on Thursday morning, gathered at the Labour Ministry, which read “Corruption at COCOBOD”, “Dr Opuni stop destroying COCOBOD”, “Sharp decline of cocoa industry under Dr Opuni’s tenure among others, insisting he must pave way for a more competent person to take over.
Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations Ministry Baba Jamal who received the petition on behalf of the sector Minister Haruna Iddrisu promised to forward their grievances to the appropriate quarters and commended them for peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves
